Domestic Violence Response Initiative - Screening For Abuse

CME Details:

This course is meant for all levels and specialties in health care, including medical students and administration, interested in learning or increasing their skills in screening patients for domestic abuse/ intimidate partner violence. Many states require clinicians to participate in a course addressing domestic violence to obtain or renew licensure. This course fits within many state guidelines.

Overview

This course for practicing clinicians, taught by Daniel Oppenheim, MD, Endocrinologist and Domestic Violence Community Educator, Karen Wentworth, will provide participants with an overview of the dynamics of domestic abuse, indicators of abuse that you should be aware of, the health care providers role in screening for abuse, discussions on the medical RADAR tool used to effectively and efficiently screen for abuse, and resources available for providers as well as patients.

ACCREDITATION: The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the Maine Medical Association's Council on Continuing Medical Education and the Accreditation (MMA CCMEA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UNECOM has requested that the AOA Council on Continuing Medical Education approve this program for a maximum of 1.5 hours of AOA Category 1B CME credits. Approval is currently pending.

UNECOM designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1A Credit(s)TM and 1.5 University of New England Contact Hours for non-physicians. Contact Hours may be submitted by non-physicians, non-PA health professionals for Continuing Education Credits.
